What a registered agent is for
The registered agent is where the state and the courts know to find your company. If your business is sued, the lawsuit is delivered to the agent; if the state needs to reach you about your standing or a filing, it goes there too. The requirement is continuous, and every state imposes it: a company without an agent falls out of good standing.
Using a service keeps your home address off the public record, means you are never served in front of a customer, and gives you an address in a state where you don’t live. That last one is the usual reason a Wyoming or Delaware company needs one.

- Same-day handling of legal service. If your company is served, we scan it and notify you the day it arrives. It is the one piece of mail where a day matters.
- State mail, scanned and posted. Annual-report notices and other official mail are scanned to your account, so the deadline you didn’t know about reaches you in time.
- No charge for receiving your own mail. Scanning and delivery are part of the service, not an add-on.
- Renewal reminders 30 days ahead. Nothing renews silently, and the price never jumps.

What is a registered agent, and why do I need one?
A registered agent is the person or company your state has on file to receive legal papers (like a lawsuit) and official state mail on your company's behalf, at a real street address during business hours. Every U.S. state requires each registered company to have one continuously.
Can't I just be my own registered agent?
In most states, yes: if you have a street address there and are available during business hours, you can be your own agent. If that works for you, do it; you don't need us. People hire an agent to keep a home address off the public record, to avoid being served in front of customers, or because they don't have an address in the state where the company is registered.
What will it cost me, this year and every year?
$149.99 a year, and it renews at $149.99 a year: $149.99 this year, $149.99 next year, $149.99 the year after. There is no state fee for the service itself, and we email you 30 days before any renewal. Nothing renews silently.
What if my company is served with a lawsuit?
We scan it and send it to you the day it arrives. Service of process goes out the same day, without exception. Routine state mail is scanned and posted to your account, and we keep the originals available on request.
Can I switch to you from another agent?
Yes. You file a change-of-agent form with the state naming us; we prepare it and walk you through it. Where the state charges for the change, we pass that charge through at cost and your full total is shown before you pay, as always.
